NFL & UNITED WAY

For more than 35 years, the National Football League—owners, coaches, players and staff—have been working with United Way to strengthen America’s communities. Most recently, the partnership is leveraging resources and relationships to raise awareness about the issue of childhood obesity and creating new opportunities for young people to lead healthier lifestyles. It’s part of United Way’s 2018 goal to increase by one third the number of healthy youth.

National NFL-United Way Ambassador: Nnamdi Asomugha

All- Pro Oakland defensive back Raider Nnamdi Asomugha, an American born Nigerian, has emerged as one of the NFL’s most valuable players, but his contribution off the field is just as impressive.

As a result of his hard work throughout his community he was presented with the 44th annual Byron “Whizzer” White Award, the NFL Players Association’s (NFLPA) highest honor.  In June 2010, Asomugha received the 2010 Jefferson Award for Public Service, which honors volunteerism in America and is considered the “Nobel Prize” for community service. Continuing his commitment to charity and community, Asomugha was selected as the National NFL United Way Ambassador.
