Our United Way MSJC Initiatives
Every person in our community deserves to be healthy, have access to education, and have household stability. The United Way MSJC funds programs that address the greatest issues that our local community faces every day - but our work does not stop there. To bridge the gap of need, our local United Way developed these exclusive initiatives.

Early Literacy →
United Way Super Readers!
inspires a love of reading through (15) book vending machines in local schools and the Summer Reading Palooza, which provides books to kindergarten and first-grade students to build home libraries.
United We WORK is a workforce readiness program dedicated to reducing barriers to employment and enhancing financial stability for individuals facing unemployment or underemployment. The initiative provides support and access to professional/specialized attire through the Workforce Clothing Closet.
United Way's Regional Volunteer Center →
This virtual volunteer center is proudly offered by United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County. Local nonprofits across Southeast Texas list their volunteer opportunities. Volunteers can view opportunities by interest and track hours for work or college.
Day of Caring is a community-wide volunteer initiative that brings together individuals, companies, and organizations to complete impactful projects in a single day.
West Port Arthur Community Garden →
This initiative addresses hunger. The garden includes 37 beds that are managed by UW and local community members. Learn more about the garden by clicking the link in the title.
The 365 Small Business Circle invites local businesses to invest in their community by contributing $1 a day.
The Born Learning Trail is a fun, interactive outdoor path that promotes early childhood learning through playful activities for families
