Celebrating a Century of Impact
The United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County is dedicated to improving the lives of our neighbors by addressing critical needs across the community. In partnership with local organizations, we work to fight poverty and food insecurity, invest in education, and advance health outcomes for individuals and families.
This year marks a significant milestone as United Way celebrates 100 years of service—honoring a legacy of impact while continuing to build a stronger, healthier community for the future.

Community Investment Grants
Volunteers and partner agencies committed significant time and effort throughout the process, balancing busy schedules to attend site visits, engage in discussions, and thoughtfully participate in grant decisions. Their dedication to understanding each organization’s mission and impact reflects a strong commitment to informed, intentional funding.
Through direct engagement, volunteers gained valuable insight into the needs and successes of the agencies they support, strengthening both the grantmaking process and community connections. Participating agencies played a key role by sharing their work and impact, highlighting the importance of collaboration in creating meaningful, lasting change.
We are proud to share that 37 programs received funding through CIG and will be officially announced at our Annual Banquet. Join us as we celebrate these impactful programs and the difference they make in our community!

BVM Restock
United Way’s book vending machine restocks help ensure students continue to have easy access to engaging, age-appropriate books throughout the year. By regularly replenishing the machines, we keep excitement around reading high and provide consistent opportunities for children to choose and take home books of their own. These efforts support literacy development, encourage a love of reading, and help remove barriers to book access for students in our community.
This spring, we continued promoting literacy across our community by restocking 15 book vending machines and distributing 36,704 books to children and families, helping inspire a love of reading and expand access to books.

Earth Day
We celebrated Earth Day with students at Booker T. Washington Elementary through hands-on learning about plants and energy. Students explored what plants need to grow, enjoyed a fun story, decorated the sidewalks with Earth Day chalk art, and took home seeds to plant. Thank you to Entergy Texas for volunteering and helping make the day special!
